Health Advice for All Walks of Life

There is no particular age to begin educating yourself and your family about a healthy lifestyle.  The earlier in life you begin to practice an active and healthy lifestyle, the better your health will be as you age.

Infants & Children

  • breastfeed with quality milk.
  • limit sugary foods by spending more time meal prepping
  • teach, learn and explore together
  • Consider this: whatever you introduce your  child to, will be their expectation.  If you don't introduce children to white sugar or processed foods, they will never miss them
  • Reward your kids with fresh fruits, water and other healthy choices
  • Read to your children, even while they are still in the womb
  • Limit your child's social media interactions and explore more natural environments such as playing sports, walking in the park, or visiting a museum

Young Adults

  • Set your own trends
  • Be unique and show your peers how to be dope, accepted and still living a healthy lifestyle
  • Put down cell phones and read a book. In today's society, it is a rarity
  • Challenge yourself with small goals on a daily basis.  An unused mind is a lost one
  • Hold conversations with the elderly and soak up as much knowledge as you can.  Their knowledge is a valuable part of history
  • Learn and know it is NOT cool to drink, smoke cigarettes or pop pills under any circumstances.  If you are being encouraged to do so, you are setting yourself up for failure - all of these things are bad  for your heart, and oppress your mental altitude
  • Know what it means to be "woke"
  • Explore your spiritual connections and know they are necessary for total completion of good health

Working Adults

  • Be very mindful of what you are eating while sitting at a desk.
  • Stand up and move as many as times a day as your schedule allows. This promotes calorie burning, metabolism enhancement, healthy blood circulation, and a great way to decrease stress while enhancing focus to improve job function capabilities
  • Always make time for healthy food choices and activity such as taking the stairs instead of  elevators and bringing your lunch instead of eating out.
  • Use only creamer OR sugar if you feel you must have coffee, but never use both.  Creamer contain a large amount of sugars alone.
  • Stay away from processed foods if you are monitoring your blood pressure.  Just to name a few:
    • TV Dinners
    • Farm-raised meats
    • Canned goods
    • Fast food

Senior Living

  • Stay active as much as possible
  • Rest but make sure EVERYTHING you put in your temple (body) is promoting lower cholesterol, a healthy weight, and maintaining a good blood pressure
  • Working in the yard is excellent for relaxation as well as physical activity for the entire body
  • Social groups are important as we get older to help us deal with sickness and the lost of loved ones
  • You should set goals at every age
  • Keep your mind sharp by playing memory games, doing crossword puzzles and challenging yourself to do small but important tasks such as cleaning the fridge and walking stairs or throughout your community with a neighbor or friend.

DoGood's 2015 - Walk of New York

For her daughter's sweet sixteen, DoGood took her kids on a never-ending stroll throughout New York.  The walk took place over the course of 4 days.

"We only stopped for food and sleep"

We walked on average 10 miles a day.  Although this may sound like a lot to many, it is true that time really passes when you are having fun!

Feeding the Homeless for the Holidays was "Heart-warming"

I must say feeding the homeless gave my children a new attitude and a greater respect for life in general. No life or gift is to be taken for granted.  Learn More
