Why Asking God Why Isn't Enough: The Call to Action in a World of Suffering

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Have you ever found yourself asking God why things are the way they are? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do innocent children suffer? Why don’t our prayers seem to be answered?

Perhaps we find ourselves questioning God’s plan because we don’t understand it. Maybe we feel that God has abandoned us or that he’s not listening to our cries for help. But what if, instead of asking God why things are the way they are, he were to ask us why we’re not doing more to help those in need?

In the book of James, we read, “But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds” (James 2:18). This verse reminds us that our faith is not just about what we believe, it’s about what we do. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this world, to show love and compassion to those who are hurting and in need.

So instead of asking God why things are the way they are, what if we were to ask ourselves why we’re not doing more to make a difference? Why are we not taking action to help those who are suffering around us? Why are we not living out the call to love our neighbors as ourselves?

God has given us the power to affect change in this world. We have the ability to make a positive impact in the lives of others, to spread the hope and love of Christ to those who desperately need it. But are we willing to step out of our comfort zones and do what it takes to make a difference?

My dear friends, let us not waste any more time asking God why things are the way they are. Instead, let us ask ourselves why we’re not doing more to help. Let us pray for the wisdom and courage to respond to God’s call to be his hands and feet in this world. And let us commit to taking action, so that we can be the change that we wish to see in this world.

May God bless you all, and may his love and grace guide and support you always. Amen.
